§ 02
The range
Why a range, not one price.
Two businesses on the same plan can have very different workloads. The range reflects that. Here is what we look at on the assessment call to set your number.
Once we have talked, your price is locked. It doesn't move month to month until your scope changes: new services, more transaction volume, or more accounts.
Transaction volume. A business with 50 transactions a month is not the same as one with 500.
Number of bank, credit card, and merchant accounts. Each one is another reconciliation.
Employees and contractors on payroll. Frequency, complexity, and benefit structures all matter.
Sales tax exposure. GST/HST only, or also PST and inter-provincial?
Software and integrations already in place. Cleaner stack, faster work.
Reporting depth. Standard monthly reports, or in-depth analysis with insights?

§ 04
Before we go monthly
Behind on the books? Start here.
Before we can run a clean monthly cycle, the books need to be current. If you are months or years behind, or if a previous bookkeeper left things in rough shape, we run that as a separate catch-up or clean-up project.
Assessment first. We review the state of your books and quote a fixed scope.
Project pricing, not monthly. Catch-up work is quoted in writing before any work starts, based on the time period and condition of the records.
Roll into a monthly plan. Once the books are caught up, we move you onto Plan A, B, or C and the monthly fee starts.
§ 05
Terms
Month-to-month. No surprises.
Contract
Month-to-month.
Cancel anytime. No annual commitments, no termination fees. We complete the work covered by your final paid month.
Satisfaction
Final-month refund.
If you are not satisfied with the work at the time you choose to leave, we refund or waive your most recent monthly FRS service fee.
Billing
Monthly invoices.
Invoices are due upon receipt. E-transfer, credit card, debit, cheque, and other standard payment methods are available.
Third-party software subscriptions, government filing fees, and payment processor fees are separate unless your written proposal says otherwise.
§ 06
Pricing FAQ
Questions about pricing.
How do I know where I will land in the range?
The range reflects volume and complexity. On the assessment call we ask about transaction count, number of accounts, payroll setup, and a few industry-specific details. Once we have talked, your price is locked at one number: not a range.
Is there a setup or onboarding fee?
Initial bookkeeping system setup is included in your ongoing engagement. If the books need clean-up before we can start monthly work, that is scoped and quoted separately before any work begins.
What software do you use? Is it included?
We work primarily in QuickBooks Online and Xero, and can work with other platforms where they make sense. Third-party software costs are handled separately from FRS service fees unless your written proposal says otherwise.
Do you handle corporate tax returns?
No. We prepare your books to the point your accountant can file efficiently. If you do not have an accountant, we can refer one.
Can I switch plans as my business grows?
Yes. Most clients start on Plan A or B and move up as they add employees, complexity, or operational load. Plan changes take effect with a revised proposal.
What if I need something that is not in any plan?
Tell us. If it is a one-off, we quote it as a project. If it is recurring, we roll it into your monthly scope and adjust the fee. We do not want you tracking what is in scope mid-conversation.
Do you charge extra for emails or quick questions?
No. Within scope, support is unlimited. We only flag scope when a request is genuinely outside what we agreed on, and we tell you before we start, not after.
What happens at year-end?
Year-end close is included in every plan. We reconcile, post adjustments, prepare working papers, and hand off a clean package to your accountant once the records for the period are complete.
Are there minimum contracts or cancellation fees?
No minimum term and no cancellation fees. Month-to-month, cancel anytime.
What if I am not happy with the work?
If you are not satisfied at the time you leave, we refund or waive your most recent monthly FRS service fee. We would rather make it right than keep money for work that did not meet the bar.
How do I get started?
Book an assessment call. It gives us enough context to recommend a plan, confirm scope, and send a fixed monthly number in writing.
Schedule a call.
To book the right meeting, please let us know.
Which type of meeting works best?
Have you completed the fit quiz? The Business Assessment is designed for businesses that have completed our fit quiz. If not, the meeting will be converted to a Discovery Call.
